SAN JOSE, California - October 28, 2009 - Power Integrations, a leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, today launched PI University, an online technical learning center featuring practical instructional videos that build to form a complete how-to tutorial in power supply circuit design.
"Power Integrations' engineering team has decades of hands-on power supply design experience," said Peter Vaughan, director of applications engineering at Power Integrations. "PI University allows us to share that expertise with the design community through step-by-step video tutorials. Whether you are designing your very first power supply or are already an expert, the PI University courses offered each week will demonstrate new approaches to designing, specifying, and testing highly efficient power supplies."
PI University Season One covers a broad range of power supply design topics, including bringing up a power supply for the first time; identifying and troubleshooting problems; complying with energy-efficiency standards; measurement and testing techniques. A new video will be released each week through January 2010; courses released today include:
Testing Compliance to Energy-Efficiency Standards
Fixing a Flyback Supply with No Output Voltage
Techniques for Measuring Efficiency
Power Integrations offers a broad range of highly integrated, high-voltage ICs for offline power conversion. Each IC includes a 700 V power MOSFET combined with control and protection circuitry on a single chip. Features include current limiting and thermal shutdown with automatic fault recovery capability to improve reliability, frequency jittering to reduce EMI, and EcoSmart' technology to dramatically reduce standby energy waste.
PI University courses are available online now at www.powerint.com/piUniversity.
