Mansfield, Mass. Murata Power Solutions has introduced its UEI series of isolated, wide-range dc/dc converters that delivers 50-60 W of power output in a standard PCB-mounted, open-frame package. Plastic-cased versions are available.
Housed in a 40.6 x 50.8 x 10.16 mm (1.6 x 2. x 0.4 in.) footprint, the regulated UEI series offers an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is suitable for a wide range of current-hungry applications including industrial, wireless and mobile communications, transportation, medical and instrumentation.
The UEI offering includes two 4:1 ultra-wide-range input voltages: 18 to 75 Vdc Vin combined with outputs of either 3.3 V at 18 A or 5.0 V at 12 A for a total power of 60 W, and 9 to 36 Vdc input, combined with 3.3 V at 15 A, 5.0 V at 10 A or 12 V at 4.2 A for 50 W of output power. Capable of stable no-load operation without external components, the UEI series uses a synchronous rectifier forward topology for high-efficiency operation, resulting in minimal heat build-up and the ability to be operated using convection cooling and without the need for fans.
Full magnetic and optical isolation of up to 2250 Vdc provides basic insulation. The devices are also said to provide excellent ripple and noise specifications to ensure compatibility to circuits using CPUs, ASICs, programmable logic and FPGAs.
Self-protection and shutdown features are incorporated in the new design including input under-voltage lockout, over-temperature protection, over-current hiccup, auto re-start, output over-voltage protection and reverse conduction immunity. Additional features include monotonic start-up, output voltage trim and remote on/off with either positive or negative logic.
The UEI series is fully RoHS compliant and all versions meet UL60950-1, CSA-C22.2 No.60950-1 and IEC/EN60950-1 safety approvals.
Pricing: Starts at $37.50 in OEM quantities.
Availability: Lead times is from stock to 10-12 weeks ARO.
